A few of my favorite things

I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite things with everyone. Be warned, I am a very random person. LOL And these are in no particular order.

1. Coffee - I love it. My favorite is Blue Mountain (a Jamaican blend). But, if I can't get Blue Mountain, my next favorite is Dukin Donuts. I'm also fond of vanilla creamer.

2. Vanilla scented candles - This brightens my mood like nothing else. The fragrance is soothing and sometimes it inspires me to bake.

3. Horror movies - My favorite type of horror is the kind that really makes you think. Using my mind is often much scarier than seeing someone torn to pieces. But, having said that, I must confess to my love of cheesy horror as well. I rent almost every B horror movie that comes to Redbox. LOL It's a bizarre fascination of mine.

4. Fat puppy bellies - No explanation required.

5. Fantasy RPG games - My love of Dragon Age knows no bounds. I never get tired of elves, dwarves, and dragons. Ever. I've also replayed Dragon Age: Origins several times just to drool over Alistair.

6. Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit - See #5, the same explanation applies here, only I drool over Thorin Oakenshield.

7. Beards - Yes, I am a lover of facial hair. If worn correctly, it can be very, very sexy.

8. Mythology - I love to read mythology of all kinds. While most people think of Greeks when they hear the word mythology, I like to read legends from every culture I can find.

9. Vampires and Werewolves - This one should come as no surprise. If I had to choose a favorite, I don't think I could.

10. Castles - The theme on my computer right now is called "Castles of Europe." It has been my lifelong dream to one day live in a castle.

11. Batman - Simply because he is awesome. No, really, Batman is awesome. Though I love Joker more, I must say that Batman is my favorite superhero. Why? Because he is the only one who could actually exist in the world as we know it. And being sexy as hell doesn't hurt.

12. Hugs - Though I don't like to receive them from random ass people for no reason, I DO like to be hugged by people I know and care about.

13. Gardening - I look forward to my fall pumpkin garden all year. I also like to grow roses, but I am pretty good with most any type of plant.

See, told you I was random. LOL Now, back to work and more coffee. And maybe some Skyrim if I get finished early.

A Dream Forbidden will be out in MARCH 2014

First let me say, I am thrilled that so many people are digging the Lilith Mercury series. Thank you all very much. :) I've been getting a lot of questions about the 5th book.

A Dream Forbidden was with a publisher at one time, but that contract has long since expired. (This was my choice.) For that reason, there is still an old picture up on Amazon and a few outrageously priced copies in print. I have no control over that, and I am sorry.

Since it was previously published, A Dream Forbidden has been professionally edited 3 more times, as well as proofed by myself and my writing partner/editor, and it now has new cover art.

Another thing I can't change that is causing some confusion is the book apparently has some reviews and such on Goodreads. I can certainly understand why that would cause confusion. Again, I can't change it and I apologize.

I don't want people to think that I'm just taking the book off the market or something. LOL I would NEVER do that.

Release dates are determined based on my schedule, and in many cases (such as with a previously published book) for legal reasons.

My plan is to have a total of 7 books in this series. I had originally thought I would do more, but this just seems like the right time/way for things to come to a close.

So, there will be 3 more books.

A DREAM FORBIDDEN - MARCH 2014

THE BLEEDING HEART - FALL/WINTER 2014

AFTER DARK - NO RELEASE DATE YET

I am spending my every spare moment working on this series, but it does take time. Once again, I am deeply and sincerely grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response this series has received.

However, if the threats and angry letters could stop now because the next book isn't out yet, that would be great. ;)

No, I'm not joking.

Update:  I just wanted to add that I love hearing from readers. And I certainly do not mind being asked questions. I'm not talking about all the polite emails like, "When is the next book coming out?" Or "I see it listed on Amazon, but can't find it. What's up?"

Oh, no. I'm talking about, "Where the F**K is the next book you evil BITCH?!!!!!!!"

Food for thought

Writing is a lonely job. When you finish a book, it represents far more than whatever the story is about. It's hours of lost sleep. It's time away from your family and friends. It's a piece of who you are and what you are all about. Likely the only one who will ever fully understand that is YOU.

I'm not saying people won't enjoy your work, or that they won't understand it. I'm saying that everyone reads things from a different perspective. They have their own ideas and prejudices from the beginning, just like you do when you write.

Knowing that you are the only one who will ever really know what that book was about, that is pretty lonely.

If you try to explain that to someone, you will likely be asked, "Why did you decide to become a writer then?"

You don't exactly "decide" to become a writer. You either are one, or you are not. I am, and I've always been, a writer.

I am truly and deeply grateful that after six years of hard work, my books are finally taking off. That's great and I am thrilled. However, this means that I am exposed to more and more people, which means more and more assholes will attack me simply because I'm right in front of them.

When I go out I have a 50/50 chance of being recognized either because someone read my book/books and loved it or because they hate my guts and think they could do better. I simply do not understand all the hatred. It is never okay to behave that way.

If you don't like what I write, then don't read it. Move on to something that is more to your liking and don't be a dick to me for writing what I enjoy.

If you think you can do better then by all means, do it. I sincerely wish you luck. If you want to write, then write. Go for it. Don't sit around hating other people because they have accomplished their goals. I'm sure they worked their asses off to be where they are.

While I am beyond excited to see my books climbing the charts, I am also heartbroken because I can no longer watch that climb. Why? Well, because I am sick of my books getting trolled. If I look at that shit I'll never be able to write another word. Reading hurtful reviews (or even good ones sometimes) can cripple a writer. You won't be able to put anything on the page for fear that people won't understand it, or they will attack you for it. I can't do that. This is what pays my bills and I have to keep writing. Therefore, I can no longer look at my rankings because it is impossible to see that without seeing reviews.

Do me a favor everyone? Before you reply in an email to someone or write a review, or communicate with anyone in any way ... think about it. Realize that there is an actual person with thoughts and feelings on the receiving end of your words. If they haven't done anything personally to you, then don't attack them on a personal level. What if you were on the receiving end of your letter or review? Would it upset you, or hurt your feelings? If so, then don't send it.

Just some food for thought.
